Listening to the girls in the office the big discussion recently was “Will you be going to see Fifty Shades of Grey?…’ Well as I caught WonderMonkey reading my book a couple of years ago, I thought he’d be up for going to see it with me…however it seems I was wrong. Like the WonderGirls said, is it a film you would go and see with your husband or boyfriend? Would you watch it together secretly in the comfort of your own home or just go with the girls and leave your bloke watching football? After much debate it seemed more like a girlie night out and with this in mind, off I went with some of my human girlie friends.
I must say, there was quite a diverse mix of individuals; couples and groups (of all ages) sat there waiting to meet Mr Grey. As I settled into watching the film it wasn’t quite as hard core as the book, not that that was a literary masterpiece, maybe just a pleasant bit of escapism. That said, I rather enjoyed the film, for all its criticisms it wasn’t a difficult watch in my view, and Anastasia wasn’t just a submissive pushover…but was he my Mr Grey? I can’t say he was (I’m more of a Ryan Gosling fan myself!)
When I arrived home I was greeted by Monkey clutching the sock Monkey Karma Sutra calendar we have hanging above the creative studio, he was all smiles. I of course just rolled my eyes and went to run the bath…
