There is nothing I love more than coming across interesting and challenging new ideas for creating illustrations. As a designer at The Wonderland, I am always looking for inspiration and I was mesmerized at Kristina Webb’s method of creating her illustrations. Not only is she a fantastic illustrator but she uses real life objects to create realistic pieces of art. From fruit to plants, it turns out you can create a new style of illustrations just by adding items we may use on a daily basis.
The 19 year old, New Zealand artist used Instagram to share her creative ideas with her followers. One piece using spaghetti to complete the drawing and add her 3D hair onto a water coloured girl. My favourite had to be the piece where Kristina uses peacock feathers to create a beautiful effect on a dress worn by a hand drawn model. How she blends in the pencil colours with the feathers is really impressive, this technique creates the perfect realistic look and something I would love to try. It’s inspirational to discover an artist that can create a new style of illustration from whatever is around her.
