It’s finally here, we are in the full swing of Christmas, yep there is no avoiding it! We are being bombarded with festive ads, emails, songs and our Facebook feed is full of family and friends erecting trees and decorating them with sparkly balls!
In fact, as an agency we have been working on Christmas since June! So maybe we are all ‘festived’ out! Look at me inventing Christmassy words!
So what do we have to look forward to in December? Of course the parties, drinks, fun and festive food, well we’ve already had Sausage Roll Gate via Greggs, (which I loved as much as others hated). We’ve had snapchat, make yourself in to a brussel sprout head, via Sainsbury’s and dancing carrots courtesy of Aldi! Oh and don’t forget the unusual non chocolate advent calendars that cost more than a TV!
Then we’ve been blasted with pre sale sales! Sang at the top of our lungs that ‘there are millions of Jeffries all under one roof!’ Bought dresses for the Christmas party that are now half price, had deliveries go missing or turn up broken and of course we’ve all had the Christmas advert debate! Were John Lewis the winners? Hmm actually my favourite had to be the BBC ‘together’ campaign (I have to admit I did cry at this!)
With ‘X-Factor’ over, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ inside fighting hitting the press and enough cock roaches and pigs testicles being eaten on ‘I’m A Celeb’ in the last two weeks to fill a supermarket, I am well and truly over it!
At the start of December, I had no tree up, gifts still left to buy, client work to be done and as I hit my head against the desk, one of the girls shouted ‘Let’s do Christmas Jumper Day!’ on the 15th December…oh joy!
The charity Save the Children runs an annual Christmas Jumper Day each year in December using the slogan “Make the world better with a sweater”.
There have been many famous jumper wearers over the years and have even featured in films such as Bridget Jones Diary, and many movies have even been the influence to several jumper designs we wear to this day. You know which ones I am talking about ‘Ya filthy animals’.
We already have so many high expectations at Christmas and now its jumpers too! That said, it’s for a great cause and whilst I hear ‘Bah Humbug’ from behind my shoulder in reference to my above Grinch comments… “Oh no you don’t” I cry! Because today I have aired my jumper and rocked up to work in a nice glittery Christmas number!
With over 250 million Christmas jumpers bought in the UK a year, its mega bucks for the shops. Just think if everyone who wore one, donated just a pound to ‘Save the Children’, it would make such a huge difference!
We’ll be donating to the charity and doing our bit, so make sure you do too here: http://ow.ly/jTLj30hf5tM
Christmas is just around the corner, so what’s left to do on the run up to this momentous day? It’s of course The Wonderland Christmas party! Too much food and hangovers. Last year I was the proud owner of isle 9 in the supermarket in regards to the amount of food I ate in one sitting. Oh and don’t forget about the alcoholic poisoning. But at least as Christmas day looms, the one day that all this fuss is about, I know what I’ll be wearing again, it’s my Christmas jumper!
