I remember when the founding Directors were sat around a table having lunch with a client. At the time the agency we were working for was coming to an end due to a Director split. So me and my now business partners were about to lose our jobs, when our client said, ‘Why don’t you set up on your own?’ and that was it, the seed was sown. Two weeks later we were sitting around another table deciding what we would be called and ‘The Wonderland’ was born.
And that is exactly what we do, create magic and wonderful ‘all sorts’ for our clients
We started with our own laptops, a bit of stationery, heads full of knowledge and experience and have never looked back…
I could now write a big sales-type blog post about how wonderful we are, like many other agencies, but I don’t need to. A lot of our clients have stayed with us many years and some of them have brought us new clients, so overall I think it’s fair to say we must be doing a pretty good job. You can see examples of our work all over the world!
We couldn’t have done this without the support of great partners such as Fish Media and Boom, who have been there since day 1 to help us get some of this fantastic work out the door. Ok, that’s enough of the love stuff… Ah but I’d better add just how great our clients are or should I say magnificent! Seriously, we really are made to feel like part of their teams and because of this we fall in love with the brands we work on, we are protective of them and have their best interests at the heart of what we do…ok I’m done now.
Now, as we are getting a little older (dare I say even wiser) and a little bigger in size, we have to embrace change while protecting our Wonderland culture, just like the businesses we work with. The youngsters we’ve employed (so called, due to not knowing who Jamie and the magic torch is and never having used a record player) are keeping The Wonderland, us Directors and our clients on our toes, while injecting new ideas and viewpoints into our business.
What’s good for our clients is the wealth of knowledge we as Directors can instil in the younger team, and give them the direction to succeed in this industry and with The Wonderland. Although our projects are still overseen by me, Inge and Lynsey, we couldn’t do it without our girls.
So now we are 7 years old and have a team of 7. Time to stand still, for just a moment, to say thanks and reflect. But not too long, we’re raring to go and start the next 7 years, may they be as eventful as the last… I may need to add a bit of Botox in somewhere too!
